William Loyd Stone, 54, of Carlisle, died Friday, June 15, 2012 at Select Specialty Hospital, Camp Hill.
Born August 25, 1957 in Cincinnati, OH, a son of the late Carl and Juanita Casey Stone.
He retired from the US Army after 17 ½ years of service. After retiring he became a JROTC Instructor at the Carson Long Military Academy. He was a member of Second Presbyterian Church of Carlisle where he was in the choir, contemporary worship band and also served as Elder. He was a member of the Order of St. Barbara in the US military. He loved camping and playing guitar and building things with his hands. William generally loved to do things with his family and loved old westerns. He loved being in the military, training with the men and later to carry on training at Carson Long as an instructor and working with cadets on the drill team.
Surviving are his wife of 27 years, Holly Stone of Carlisle; two sons, Jacob and Thomas Stone, both of Carlisle; brothers and sisters, Violet Singleton of Kentucky, Patty Kauth of Oregon, Mary Rodriquez of California, Patrick Stone of Kentucky, Diane of Pennsylvania, Paul Stone of Kentucky and Rosetta of Kentucky. He was preceded in death by his brother, Carl Stone.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, June 25, 2012 at Second Presbyterian Church, 528 Garland Drive, Carlisle with Rev. Jennifer J. McKenna and Rev. Jeffrey W. Gibelius co-officiating. Burial will be held at 2:30 p.m., Monday at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
