William "Bill" C. Lewis

William “Bill” Lewis, of Carlisle, passed away Tuesday, December 24, 2024 at UPMC Carlisle Hospital at the age of 73. Born in Pottsville, PA he was the son of the late David and Emma (Borrelli) Lewis. He was the loving husband of Marie H. (McDonald) Lewis, with whom he shared 48 years of marriage.

Bill was a graduate of Minersville High School’s Class of 1970. Upon graduation, Bill immediately enlisted in the U.S. Air Force where he proudly served his country. Following his honorable discharge, he was employed at the Carlisle Barracks at the U.S. Army War College serving in various management roles before retiring after 42 years of government service. Bill was a longtime parishioner of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Carlisle. 

When his children were younger, Bill enjoyed coaching youth sports for South Middleton-area sports teams and following Boiling Springs High School sports. He was also an avid golfer and leaves behind many friends he met on the course. Bill enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and taking family vacations to the beaches of North Carolina. 

In addition to his wife Marie, Bill is survived by his four children, William Lewis, Jr. (wife Erica), of Brooklyn, NY; Matthew Lewis (wife Bethany), of Kutztown, PA; daughter Ali Villanti (husband TJ), of Havertown, PA; and Zachary Lewis (wife Haley), of Birmingham, AL. Bill is also survived by a brother Jim Lewis, of Kittyhawk, NC and sisters Joanne Ryan and Nancy Moeller, both of Minersville, PA. He was predeceased by an infant brother, Robert, brother David and sister, Jeanette Miller.”  Grandchildren Emelia, Alice, Marco, Vivian, Millie, Francesca, and Colson also survive him. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 30 at Saint Patrick Church, 87 Marsh Drive, Carlisle, PA 17015 with the Rev. Chiedozie Ononuju as celebrant. There will be a viewing held at church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Bill’s memory to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, 383 Main Ave., 7th Flr., Norwalk, CT 06851. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hoffman Funeral and Cremation, 2020 W. Trindle Road, Carlisle, PA 17013.
