William K. “Billâ€Â McNair, Jr., 74, of Boiling Springs died Monday, January 14, 2013 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Born April 18, 1938 in Mechanicsburg, he was a son of the late William K. Sr. and Mary Roth McNair.
He retired after 47 years from Carlisle Tire and Wheel. He enjoyed racing of all types and always supported Fords. Bill was a former flat head driver at Silver Springs Speedway and was a long time crew member for 410 Sprint Car driver, Mark Smith. He loved his brothers and sisters and spending time with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Surviving are his wife of 44 years, Marlene McNair of Boiling Springs; one son, William K. McNair III of Boiling Springs; one daughter, Kimberly S. McNair of Boiling Springs; three grandsons, Hunter, Matthew and Layn McNair; two brothers, Lee McNair of Boiling Springs and Steve McNair of Carlisle; five sisters, Almeda Peterson of Camp Hill, Josephine Cline of Gardners, Kay Smith of Newport, Mary Ellen Keller of Carlisle, and Alyce Heller of Carlisle. He was preceded in death by one brother, Samuel McNair and one sister, Nancy Ellwein.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 18, 2013 at Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 219 North Hanover Street, Carlisle with Rev. Steve Gibb and Rev. Karen Hamm co-officiating. Burial will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle with full military honors conducted by Cumberland County Honor Guard. A viewing will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday, January 17, 2013 and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday at the funeral home.
