William K. Doney

William K. Doney, 83, passed away from a heart attack on February 24, 2014 at Carlisle Regional Medical Center. He was born in Weatherly, PA on April 14, 1930 to the late William and Elsie Bachman Doney.
Bill was proud to have served as an Air Force Staff Sergeant in the Korean Conflict. He graduated from Susquehanna University in 1956. While there, he was class president, president of Lamda Chi Alpha fraternity, president of the Student Christian Association and was a member of Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities in 1956.
Bill retired from Mobil Oil after working there for 33 years and was a member of Rotary International while living in PA. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and was an avid dog lover. In his younger years he enjoyed playing basketball. He played in the Air Force for 4 years, for his high school team in Weatherly and at Susquehanna University. He was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Bill is survived by his wife of 60 years, Pam Doney of Boiling Springs, son Keith Doney of Boiling Springs, daughter Kim (and husband Mike) Eckenrode of Westminster, MD, grandson Matt Eckenrode of Westminster, MD, granddaughter Sarah (and husband Andrew) Fullerton of Pasadena, MD, great-granddaughter Natalie, two brothers: Bruce (and wife Eva) Doney of Maryland and Chris Doney of California and a sister Audrey Lipes of Virginia. He was preceded in death by a sister Shirley Faust and a brother Carl Doney.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00am on Friday, February 28, 2014 at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, 201 W. Louther Street, Carlisle with Pastor Lisa Leber officiating. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. Visitation will be from 10:00am until the time of the service at the church.
