William Irvin White

William (Bill) Irvin White, Jr., age 82 of Carlisle, Pennsylvania, passed away on November 26, 2012 at his home.
Bill was born on November 28, 1929 in Chatenhim Twp., Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. He was a son of the late William I. White, Sr. and Mabel (Lauer) White.
Bill was a Veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. He worked at the former Carlisle Tire and Rubber Plant, N.L. Minich and Sons and as a long distance truck driver retiring from trucking in 1999 due to health problems.
Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Esther Schlusser White, one daughter Barbara (Barb) C. Hoover, and husband Ronald, two sons, Gary I. White and wife Denise, William (Bill) C. White and wife Debra and a grandson Brian W. White who was raised like a son, eight other grandchildren, Amy (Hoover) Martin of Newville, Beth (Hoover) Stewart, Eli J. Hoover, Jason I. White, Chad E. White and Michael White all of Carlisle, William G. White of Ickesburg and Michelle White of Newville, two step grandchildren, Jennifer Robertson of Newville and Allison Murry of Shippensburg, twenty-six great grandchildren and two step great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by a sister, Mabel (Pat) McCloskey and a brother George (Ike) White.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 30, 2012 at Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 219 N. Hanover Street, Carlisle with Pastor Denny Killinger officiating. Burial will be at Waggoners United Methodist Church Cemetery, 1271 Longs Gap Road, Carlisle, PA 17013. A viewing will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Thursday, November 29, 2012 at the funeral home and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service Friday at the Funeral Home.
