William I. "Bill" Newman

William "Bill" I. Newman, 81, of Carlisle died Sunday, November 2, 2014 in the Carlisle Regional Medical Center.
Born September 8, 1933 in Richmond, VA, a son of the late William Taylor and Anna Eleanor Miller Newman.
Bill retired in 1995 from the Camp Hill Correctional Facilities as journeyman and guard. Bill was also a retired carpenter for the B. F. Diamond Co., VA. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 1299, Carlisle. He enjoyed woodworking, making birdhouses, but most of all the time he spent with his loving wife, Violet, his children and the family dogs.
Surviving are his wife of sixty-three years, Violet M. McClurg Newman of Carlisle; one son, D. Bradley "Brad" Newman of Enola; two daughters, Rosalie Marie Duncan (Carl) of Tanneytown, MD and Vicki Lynn Newman of Hagerstown, MD; two granddaughters, Ashley Black and Shannon Shock; and one great-granddaughter, Heavyn. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Donald Newman.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, November 6, 2014 at Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 219 North Hanover Street, Carlisle with Rev. Richard L. Reese officiating. Burial will be in Yoe Union Cemetery, Yoe, PA. A viewing will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
