William D. “Bill” Aby, age 74, of Newville, passed away Monday, July 24, 2017.
He was born January 13, 1943 in Stoughstown, PA to the late Donald M. and Daisy K. (Varner) Aby.
Bill had retired from Ingersoll-Rand Corporation after 30 years of service as a Quality Assurance Senior Inspector. He was currently employed at the Bon Ton and West Pennsboro Auto Wreckers, both of Carlisle. He was very involved in Bloserville Boy Scout Troop #169 in many capacities and was a life-member of the Upper Frankford Township Volunteer Fire Company. Bill was a member of St. Mary’s United Methodist Church in Newville where he was a Lay Leader in the church and Sunday School Superintendent. He was an avid deer and bear hunter, loved the outdoors and loved traveling to Arizona. He will be sadly missed by his cat, Grady.
He is survived by: his loving wife of 52 years, Sandra L. “Sandy” (Sollenberger) Aby of Newville; two sons, Gregory A. (wife Sherry) Aby and Timothy E. Aby, both of Newville; two brothers, Richard C. Sr. (wife Alice) Aby and Harold N. (wife Glenda) Aby, both of Chambersburg; one sister, Shirley A. (husband John) Sharar of Carlisle; two grandchildren, Amanda G. (husband Steven) Nerhood of New Bloomfield and Brooke A. (husband Michael, Jr.) Bobb of Newville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 28, 2017 at Hoffman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2020 W. Trindle Road, Carlisle, PA with Rev. Iva L. O’Brien officiating. Burial will follow at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Newville. There will be a viewing at the funeral home on Thursday, July 27, 2017 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s United Methodist Church, 4133 Enola Road, Newville, PA 17241 or to Upper Frankford Township Volunteer Fire Co., 4080 Enola Road, Newville, PA 17241.
