William Carl Reese, age 92, of Carlisle, having placed his trust solely in the merits of Christ, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at Green Ridge Village, Newville.
He was born September 5, 1926 in Waynesburg, PA, the son of the late James and Hazel (Johnson) Reese.
After WW II service in the U.S. Navy, Bill married Carol Harding in 1954 and, following a two-year teaching career, settled on a dairy farm in Lewisburg, PA where he and his wife reared eleven children.
Bill Reese’s interest in the mechanical world led to his becoming a patent-holder just like his father before him. However, those who knew Bill Reese personally remember him best as a stalwart defender of American and Christian principles and as one who passionately defended truth as he understood it and sought to persuade others to make their lives count for eternity.
William is survived by his sons, David, Roger, John, Paul, Kevin and Curtis; daughters, Cathleen Reese, Christine Parker, Barbara Lee Reese, Julie Dakin, and Rachael Powell; 26 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and his wife Carol, he was preceded in death by sisters, Virginia Pollock and Lillian Bailey and brother, John Daniel Reese.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Great Hope Baptist Church, 110 Fern Avenue, Carlisle, PA with Rev. Dale Barrick officiating. A visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at the church and on Friday evening November 16, 2018 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at the Hoffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 2020 West Trindle Road, Carlisle, PA.
