William Laird Bixler, 55, of Boiling Springs, died Monday, January 2, 2012 at Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, MD.
Born April 1, 1956 in Carlisle, he was a son of the late John K., Jr. and Dorothea E. Laird Bixler.
He was a 1974 graduate of Boiling Springs High School. William received an Associate’s Degree in Engineering from Harrisburg Area Community College. He was a land surveyor for many years in the Carlisle area. William was devoted to his children and all the activities they were in. He was an outdoorsman who loved hunting.
Surviving are his wife of six years, Kathleen Bixler of Boiling Springs; three children, Christine, Catherine and John Bixler; three step-children, Danielle, Alicia and Aaron Marsh; and one brother, John Bixler, III (and wife, Debra) of Carlisle.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 6, 2012 at Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 219 North Hanover Street, Carlisle. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Churchtown. A viewing will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday, January 5, 2012 and from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service on Friday at the funeral home.
