William (Bill) Larry Heckert

William (Bill) Heckert, 68, passed from this life into the eternal arms of his Savior on Sunday, June 16, 2019, at his residence with his family by his side. He was a wonderful, loving husband--deeply respected and loved by his family and friends.

Bill was born January 5, 1951, in Harrisburg, PA. He was the son of the late Adam William Heckert and Audrey Mae (Weaver) Heckert.

He was both a graduate of Cumberland Valley School District and a retired employee from the maintenance department at Cumberland Valley. During his tenure there, he was proud to be a part of the staff who won the “Best Field Award” in the 1990’s.

He was a member of the West Shore Free Church, where he served for many years as a communion team coordinator and usher. He enjoyed spending time in the Word, the outdoors, his wife’s cooking, camaraderie with friends, sprint car racing, and attending blues concerts/festivals.

William is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Betty Heckert; his sister, Victoria Heckert (husband) Mike Heckert; sister-in-law, Barbara Heckert, and nephew Derrick Beckner (wife) Margaret and their son Adam; and 3 godchildren, Kristen, Jaime, and Candice. In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by his brother, Jeffrey Heckert.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 24, 2019, at the West Shore Free Church, 1345 Williams Grove Road, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055. (Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service at 11:00 a.m. on Monday at the church.) Burial will take place at the Rolling Green Cemetery, Camp Hill, PA.
