William (Bill) Burton Brennan

April 8, 1943 — May 8, 2016

April 8, 1943 - May 8, 2016

Bill Brennan, surrounded by his loving family, rejoined his mother in Heaven on Mother's Day. Bill was born at the Bellefonte Hospital to Russell and Helen (Shope) Brennan of Pine Grove Mills, PA.
During his youth he was active in the Boy Scouts of America attaining the rank of Eagle Scout, after which he served as an adult advisor and Assistant Scoutmaster for the Keystone Council. He graduated from State College High School, Class of 1961, and from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science. He married Virginia (Homan) Brennan, his wife of 50 years, at the Pine Hall Lutheran Church.
He began his more than forty-year pharmacy career in Huntingdon, PA. Shortly thereafter he was drafted into the Army and served his country during the Vietnam War. He was stationed in Schweinfurt, Germany and served as the base pharmacist.
Throughout his life, Bill could always be found serving others. As a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church for over 40 years, he served on the church council. As a member of the Masons and Tall Cedars of Lebanon he was actively involved in their charitable causes. He could be found spreading mulch or pulling weeds in the Kiwanis garden, taking orders for the Kiwanis' blueberry fundraiser, or sorting books at the Bookery at Bosler Memorial Library. But most of all he enjoyed the time he spent with his family, especially making and eating s'mores with his granddaughter.
Bill is survived by his wife, Virginia; son, Richard; daughter, Heidi, son-in-law, David and granddaughter, Sophie. Also his favorite sister-in-law, Jean and husband Jim. He was predeceased by his parents and his sister, Nancy Hoffman.
