William Albert Mckillip

December 3, 1912 — July 10, 2011

William "Bill" Albert McKillip, 98, a resident of Thornwald Home, Carlisle, and formerly of Carlisle, died Sunday July 10, 2011, at Thornwald.

Born Dec. 3, 1912, in Carlisle, he was the son of the late Clinton David and Anna Horn McKillip and the widower of Addessa Martin McKillip.

William was a 1932 graduate of Carlisle High School. He retired from the former Byers Lumber Company and Federal Equipment Company. Bill was a member of First United Methodist Church, American Legion Post 101, Carlisle, and AARP (national and local chapters).

Surviving are his daughter, Joan Kamowski and her husband Chester of Carlisle; a daughter-in-law, Margaret Anne McKillip of St. Charles, Mo.; three grandsons, Patrick McKillip and his wife Janey of Belleville, Ill., Stephen Kamowski and his wife Katherine of Camp Hill and Randall McKillip, USAF; two granddaughters, Joan Kaufman and her husband Daniel of St. Charles, Mo., and Pamela Merwine and her husband Robert of Carlisle; seven great-grandchildren, Erin McMillian and her husband Joshua of Greenbriar, Tenn., Devon Arseneau and her husband Joshua of St. Charles, Mo., Tara Lynn Kaufman of St. Charles, Mo., Tabitha Merwine of Carlisle, Kelsie Merwine of Carlisle, Brice Merwine of Carlisle and Andrew McKillip of Belleville, Ill.; a great-great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Marie McMillian of Greenbriar, Tenn.; a great-great-grandson, Austin Arseneau of St. Charles, Mo.; two step-great-grandchildren and three step-great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, David McKillip; three brothers, George McKillip, Chalmer McKillip and Alonzo McKillip; and two sisters, Mary Russell and Micleda McCurdy.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 15, at St. Matthew's United Church, 3240 Spring Road, Carlisle Springs, with the Rev. Timothy Dugan officiating. Burial will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle.

There will be a viewing from 9:30 a.m. Friday until the time of service at the church.
