William A. Nagy, 87, of Carlisle, died Monday, April 22, 2013 at Sarah A. Todd Memorial Home, Carlisle.
Born September 9, 1925 in New York, he was a son of the late Lewis and Magdalena (Sosterich) Nagy and the widower of Janet Kelly Nagy.
He was a graduate of Syracuse University with a BS in Forestry. William was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Rod and Gun Club, Rotary Club and Shade Tree Commission in Titusville. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to fly fish, hunt and golf. William was awarded the Bronze Star, Purple Heart and Good Conduct Medal while serving his country in the US Army during WWII.
Surviving are three daughters, Jennifer Nagy of Chicago, Amy Powless (and husband, Todd) of Carlisle, and Elizabeth Nagy (and husband Paul Ulrich) of Chicago; two sisters, Mildred Platt of Elon, NC and Helen West (and husband, Richard) of Syracuse, NY; sister-in-law, Mildred Nagy of Lowville, NY; three grandchildren, Melana, Kevin, and Katie; and one great grandchild, Ashton. He was preceded in death by one brother, Lewis Nagy, Jr. and one grandson, Todd William "Toddie" Powless.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, April 25, 2013 at Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 219 North Hanover Street, Carlisle with Rev. Daniel Menniti officiating. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
