William A. Knox

William A. Knox, age 82, of Carlisle, passed away Thursday, June 2, 2016 at the Claremont Nursing & Rehab Center, Carlisle.
He was born August 14, 1933 in Chicago, IL to the late Arthur and Anna Smith Knox.
Bill proudly served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. He worked as an Appliance Service Manager at Montgomery Ward and Sears for many years. Having been born in Chicago, he was an avid fan of the Chicago Bears. Bill was a member of St. Matthias Evangelical Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Margaret Turnbull Knox of Carlisle; son, Michael (and wife Kathleen) Egan of Mechanicsburg; daughters, Linda Knox of FL, Karen (and husband Kenneth) Beck of Hiller, PA and Margaret Nix of SC; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Bill was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred Eby and a granddaughter, Maria.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at St. Matthias Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3500 Spring Road, Carlisle, PA with Rev. Sarah Heintzelman officiating. Interment will follow at the Carlisle Springs Cemetery. There will be a visitation on Wednesday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
