Wayne S. Heberlig

Wayne S. Heberlig, age 92, of Carlisle, passed away Monday, September 12, 2016 at his residence.
He was born June 10, 1924 in W. Pennsboro Township to the late H. Earl and Mary (Peffer) Heberlig.
Wayne was a 1943 graduate of Carlisle High School. He proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theatre. He was employed by Beecher Dubbs for 32 years and was co-owner of H&W Builders. Wayne was a member of the VFW, Post 477 of Carlisle, the American Legion Post 101 of Carlisle, St. John's Lodge, #260 for over 50 years, the Plainfield Lions Club and AARP. He was active in the Boy Scouts as a former Scout Master, in the local Red Cross and helped deliver Meals On Wheels. Wayne was an active member of the Plainfield First Church of God where he was a life Elder.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Martha A. F. (Brown) Heberlig of Carlisle; two sons, Jeffrey W. (and wife Darlene E.) Heberlig and James E. (and wife Darlene F.) Heberlig, both of Carlisle; three daughters, Susan K. (and husband Steven W.) Reneker of WV, Sally Ann Heberlig (and her companion Richard Bear) of Carlisle and Jody Marie Heberlig of Carlisle; a sister, Frances J. (and husband Doc) Lusk of Mechanicsburg; six grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters. In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by his brother, Harry Heberlig.
Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 18, 2016 at Hoffman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2020 W. Trindle Road, Carlisle, PA. Graveside services will be at held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 19, 2016 at Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens with full military honors to be provided by the Cumberland County Honor Guard. A viewing will be held from 5:00 p.m. until the time of the services on Sunday at the funeral home.
