Virginia S. Floyd, 93, of Carlisle, died Sunday, May 18, 2014 at the Sarah A. Todd Memorial Home, Carlisle.
Born April 7, 1921 in Gardners, she was a daughter of the late Harry C. and Florence M. Miller Spertzel and the widow of Dale L. Floyd.
She was formerly employed as a secretary at Musslemans, Gardners and Carlisle Tire and Rubber. She served as a volunteer at the Carlisle Hospital and for Meals On Wheels. Virginia was a member of the Carlisle Brethren In Christ Church and their Volunteer Fellowship Sunday School Class. She taught Sunday School to children and adults for over fifty years. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and friends, keeping up with her grandchildren and reading.
Surviving are two daughters, Carol Zeigler (and husband, Roy) of Carlisle and Nancy Bennett (and husband, Richard) of New Jersey; four grandchildren, Jennifer Barnhart (and husband, Craig) of Newville, Tim Bennett (and wife, Emily) of New Jersey, Anna Bennett of New Jersey, and Mark Bennett (and fiancée, Monica Fodor) of Virginia.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 23, 2014 at the Brethren In Christ Church, 1155 Walnut Bottom Road, Carlisle with Rev. Kenneth Hoke officiating. Burial will be in Westminster Cemetery, Carlisle. A viewing will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday at the church.
