Virginia R. Rhoads

Virginia R. Rhoads, age 101, of Newville, PA, wife of the late Floyd S. Rhoads, passed away on Wednesday, April 13, 2022, in Newville surrounded by her loving family. She was born January 13, 1921, in Ligonier, PA to the late Clarence and Azile (Ramsey) Pechart.
Virginia was a member of the Centerville Lutheran Church in Newville. She worked at the former George’s Flower Shop in Carlisle and the former Lynns Market in Newville. Virginia was a Girl Scout leader for her daughter’s troop. Most especially, Virginia enjoyed flowers and took great pride in her flower garden and with giving away her crocheting projects to family and friends.
She is survived by her daughters Nancy Wilson and her husband Harold of Shippensburg and Jo Ann McElwain and her husband Allen of Newville; daughter-in-law Donna McKeehan and her husband Dale of Carlisle; grandchildren Beth Shenk and her husband Travis, Curtis Rhoads, Benjamin Wilson and his wife Kim, Azile McElwain, Abigail Mehalic and her husband Tony and Elizabeth McElwain; great grandchildren Taylor, Tanner, Matti Grace, Sadie, Lydia, and Grayson. Virginia is also survived by her sister Jo Alleine Hamill of Ligonier along with numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her late husband, Virginia was preceded in death by her daughter Sandra J. Reddick; son Ronald C. Rhoads; sisters Margaret Peer and baby Joy Pechart and brother Clarence Pechart, Jr.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00PM on Monday, April 18, 2022, at Hoffman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2020 W. Trindle Rd., Carlisle, PA 17013. Viewing will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 12:00PM until service time. Interment will take place at Centerville memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Centerville Lutheran Church 1874 Walnut Bottom Rd., Newville, PA 17241.
