Violet Elizabeth Reed

Violet E. Reed, age 80, of Carlisle, passed away Sunday, May 22, 2016 at the Carlisle Regional Medical Center.
She was born January 6, 1936 in Carlisle to the late Earl and Anna Hoon Kotzmoyer and was the widow of the late George Reed who passed September 21, 2004.
Violet retired from the Commonwealth of PA in the Department of the Senate as a Page. She was a member of Faith Chapel in Carlisle. She enjoyed watching Billy Graham, the 700 Club and Day Star. Violet also enjoyed cooking and loved having her coffee all day long and her trips to Dairy Queen were constant. Highlights for her were dining out with family and friends.
She is survived by her son, Robert E. Reed of Virginia Beach, VA; a brother, Roy Kotzmoyer of Carlisle; two granddaughters, Katherine Swavola and Jill Beam; two grandsons, Michael C. Reed and Robert E. Reed, II; and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded by her daughter, Joyce Swavola and a brother, Lester Kotzmoyer.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 27, 2016 at Hoffman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2020 W. Trindle Road, Carlisle, PA with her pastor, Rev. Michael Mayer officiating. Interment will be at Westminster Memorial Gardens. There will be a visitation Friday at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
