Vesta G. Stoner, 90, of Chapel Pointe, died Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at the Carlisle Regional Medical Center.
Born July 12, 1922 in Boiling Springs, she was a daughter of the late Herman Scott and Mary Emma Ocker Shatto and the widow of David Edgar Stoner.
She was a graduate of Carlisle High School, Class of 1940. Vesta was a member of Faith Chapel and First Church of God, both in Carlisle and Bible Baptist, Shiremanstown. She loved sewing, knitting and bingo. She was a full time stay at home mother and housewife.
Surviving are her daughter, Barbara L. Sheriff Shelow (and husband, James R., Sr.); two step-grandchildren, Kris T. Shelow (and fiancée`, Becky Neely) of Duncansville and James R. Shelow, Jr. of Hollidaysburg; one step great-granddaughter, Grace Elizabeth Shelow; one sister, Phyllis Kuligowski of Erie; one sister-in-law, Ruth Boisvert (and husband, Leo); and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one sister, Shirley Morrison; and two brothers, Denton S. Shatto and Creedon W. Shatto.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 1, 2012 at Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 219 North Hanover Street, Carlisle with Rev. Mike Mayer officiating. Burial will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle. A viewing will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, August 31, 2012 and from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
