Vernon E. Calaman, Sr., 93 of Carlisle, husband of the late Doris E. (Henry) Calaman, passed away at his residence on Saturday, December 4, 2021. He was born March 7, 1928, in Barnitz, PA to the late Ray M. and Mary E. (March) Calaman.
Vernon retired in 1995 as a mechanic from the former Keen Leasing and was previously employed for 30 years as a supervisor and loom mechanic for CH Masland & Sons.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman and a member of the Carlisle Fish & Game Club where he was a fly-tying instructor and enjoyed many fishing trips to Canada. Vernon also enjoyed antique cars completely restoring a 1922 Oakland touring car and a 1923 Oakland truck and was a member of the Pontiac Owners Club and various other antique car clubs/organizations.
Vernon is survived by his children Vernon E. Calaman, Jr. and his wife Joanne of Dillsburg, Connie E. Weibley and her husband Roger of Carlisle, Steven R, Calaman and his wife Cathy of Carlisle and Michael J. Calaman and his wife Jean of Carlisle. Also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. In addition to his late wife and parents, Vernon was preceded in death by his son Ronald L. Calaman.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00AM on Friday, December 10, 2021, at Hoffman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2020 W. Trindle Rd., Carlisle, PA 17013. Interment will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens. There will be a viewing at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 5:00PM to 8:00PM.
