Venis W. (Haleema) Brown

Venis W. (Haleema) Brown, of Harrisburg, passed away Saturday, October 14, 2023 at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center at the age of 62. She was born on April 10, 1961 in Queens, NY to the late Edward Little and Lula Mae Collins Johnson.

Venis was the loving wife of the late Bruce Brown.

She was a dedicated, hard worker throughout her life, having worked as a heavy equipment operator in the construction industry among other jobs over the years.

She loved to laugh, learn and sing. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren. She was a member of the Islamic Center Masjid Al Sabereen, in Harrisburg.

She is survived by two sons, James McDonald (wife Brandi), of Charlotte, NC and Nassir O. Jenrette, of Harrisburg; a daughter Erika McDonald, of Hummelstown; a sister Avis Wallace (husband Daniel), of Harrisburg; and a brother, Clarence Johnson, of Steelton. She is also survived by nieces Shaunte Sloan/Ambush and Nakia Sloan/Ritter, both of Harrisburg in addition to a host of family members and cousins. 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren also survive her.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a nephew William H. Thornton, Jr.

Islamic interment and burial services were held at the convenience of the family at AICC Cemetery, Mechanicsburg.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Hoffman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2020 W. Trindle Rd., Carlisle, PA 17013.
