Valerie J. Killinger

Valerie June Killinger passed away at home on July 10, 2024, surrounded by family. She was 78.

Born on September 21, 1945, in Patterson, NJ she was the daughter of the late John Clifford Mechan and the late Edna Frances (Bredder) Mechan. 

Retired from a career in nursing she enjoyed her cocker spaniel (Carlie), going to flea markets and yard sales, and spending time with her neighborhood friends. She also liked to spend time reading and working with her hands creating quilts, crafts, or maintaining her yard and gardens. 

She is survived by her long-time companion, Jesse Fringer of Spring Grove, PA as well as her children, Raymond (Judy) Killinger of Carlisle, Penny Killinger (Steve Todd) of Newville, and Wayne (Becki) Killinger of Carlisle, eleven grandchildren and many great grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her husband Ray E. Killinger (1994), her son Michael Killinger (2005), her sister Edna Claire (Mechan) Jackson (2016), and her brother John Clifford Mechan (2023). 

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00AM on September 7, 2024, at Hoffman Funeral and Cremation 2020 West Trindle Road Carlisle, PA 17015. The family will receive friends and family from 10:00AM until the time of the service. Pastor Richard Reese will be officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in Valerie’s honor be made to the Speranza Animal Rescue 1216 Brandt Rd, Mechanicsburg, PA., 17055.
