Vada A. Smith, 88, of Shippensburg died Friday, August 29, 2014 at Providence Place, Chambersburg.
Born February 19, 1926 in Carlisle, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Gertrude Jumper Sanno and the widow of Cloyd E. Smith, Sr.
She had retired from the house keeping department at Forest Park Health Center, Carlisle. She had been employed by Musselman Foods. Vada formerly attended Bethel Assembly of God, Carlisle. She enjoyed playing cards, her guitar, cooking and canning, flea markets and going out to eat with her loving families.
Surviving are two daughters, Barbara J. Minich of Shermans Dale and Sharon D. Smith and (companion, Lee Wilson) of Shippensburg; one son, Cloyd E. Smith, Jr. (and wife, Deborah) of Carlisle; one sister, Mildred Beidel of Carlisle; four grandchildren: Greg Minich, Angela Minich, Kevin Smith and Krista McCullough and three great-grandchildren: Bryce, Easton, Andee. She was preceded in death by son-in-law, Walter Minich; three brothers: Lucas, Charles and Walter Sanno and three sisters: Gladys Sanno Barrick, Nellie Sanno Bollinger and Mabel Sanno Miller.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 219 North Hanover Street, Carlisle with Rev. John A. Ile officiating. Burial will be in Westminster Memorial Gardens, Carlisle. A viewing will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 2, 2014 and on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
