Urie S. Darhower

Urie S. Darhower, 90, of Carlisle, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 11, 2022, at Select Specialty Hospital.  

He was born September 25, 1932, in Carlisle to the late Harry and Hazel (Moore) Darhower. Urie lost his loving wife of 68 years, Violet (Bouder) Darhower one month ago.

Urie honorably served his country in the US Air Force for over twenty years before retiring as a Senior Master Sergeant. He was a member of VFW South Mountain Post 6771 and American Legion Post 674. Urie enjoyed bowling, golfing, and listening to music of all types. Most of all, Urie loved his family.

He is survived by his three sons, Larry (wife Shela) Darhower of Lehi, UT, Craig (wife LaDonna) Darhower of Shippensburg, and Keith Darhower of Carlisle; one sister, Fayelynn (husband Tom) Enterline of Dillsburg; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. In addition to his parents and his wife, Urie was preceded in death by eleven brothers and sisters and his daughter-in-law, Cathy Darhower.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 17, 2022, at the Hoffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 2020 West Trindle Road Carlisle, PA 17013. Interment with military honors will follow at Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens. A viewing will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Urie to the veteran’s organization of your choice.
