Tom D. "Jakey" Thumma

Tom D. “Jakey” Thumma, 74, of Carlisle, passed away on Sunday, January 19, 2020 at his home.
He was born July 30, 1945 in Mechanicsburg to the late Ira David and Evelyn Mae (Whitman) Thumma.
Jakey loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, gardening, and driving his tractors. He enjoyed cooking and spending time on his computer. The most important thing to Tom was the time he was able to spend with his family. Jakey was a member of Juniata County Rifle Association and the Harrisburg Hunters and Anglers Association. He was a graduate of Cumberland Valley High School and furthered his education at Messiah College.
Tom is survived by his loving wife, Deborah E. Thumma of Carlisle; five children, David Thumma of Erie, Donavan (wife Cyndi) Payne of North Carolina, Christine Mazzatesta of Harrisburg, Heather (husband Steve) Schwenk of New York, and Jessica (husband Travis) Laughman of Carlisle; three siblings, Ira M. (wife Sue) Thumma of Michigan, John B. (wife Toni) Thumma of New Mexico, and Betty M. Thumma (Partner Bill) of Erie; sixteen grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 22, 2020 at the Hoffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 2020 West Trindle Road Carlisle, PA 17013 with Rev. Richard L. Reese officiating. Burial will be private and held at the convenience of the family. A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
