Thalia L. Wert, 96 of Carlisle, passed away on Monday, April 29, 2019 at the Sarah A. Todd Memorial Home. She was born June 25, 1922 in Lancaster, PA, the daughter of the late Glenn Linah and Kathryn Keiser Linah. She married John H. Wert Jr. on February 28, 1951. He preceded her in death.
She was a1940 graduate of Boiling Springs High School and attended Jefferson School of Nursing. Thalia had worked as a nurse’s aide at the Carlisle Hospital and as clerk at the War College. She was a member of First United Church of Christ, and volunteered at the Carlisle Hospital for 21 years, reaching 5,500 hours. Thalia enjoyed time spent with her family and going to the beach as well as knitting.
She is survived by her son: John H. Wert III and his wife Rudelle of Carlisle, her daughter: Julie Paviol and her husband John of Carlisle, four grandchildren: Christy Carroll, Shannon Fourlas and her husband Tim, Dr. Scott Paviol and his wife Heather, and Layne DiLoreto and her husband Matt, three great-grandchildren: Ryan Carroll, Thalia Fourlas and Violet Fourlas, and her two sisters-in-laws: Gayle Fry and Opal Linah, both of Carlisle.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Thalia was preceded in death by a brother: Harry Linah.
A memorial service will be at 11:30 AM on Saturday, May 4, 2019 at the Hoffman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2020 W. Trindle Road, Carlisle, PA with Rev. Rachael Schwab, officiating.
A visitation will be held from 11:00 AM until time of the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
Private burial will be in the Westminster Memorial Gardens.
