Sylvia Marie Knapp, 88, of Carlisle, died Friday, May 3, 2013 at Claremont Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Carlisle.
Born October 13, 1923 in East Berlin, she was a daughter of the late Herbert and Della Masmer Ebersole and the widow of Richard Knapp.
She was a teacher for 37 years in a number of school districts and taught second grade in the Carlisle School District. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church where she quilted and was a member of various ladies' groups of the church. She loved to paint, especially oil painting of landscapes.
Surviving are one daughter, Jennifer Fox (and husband, Gary R) of Carlisle; two grandchildren, Mackenzie Fox and Tyler Fox, both of Carlisle; one great-grandson, Kaden Richard Fox; three sisters, Grace Nagorney of York, Sarah Hess of Dover, and Jane Deitz of Dover; two brothers, Fred Ebersole of East Berlin and Sam Ebersole of York. She was preceded in death by one brother, Gerald Ebersole.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, May 13, 2013 at Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 219 North Hanover Street, Carlisle with Rev. Timothy Sadler officiating. Burial will be in Ft. Indiantown Gap, Annville.
