Steve Huntzinger

Stephen “Steve” Lynn Huntzinger, 69, of Mechanicsburg, PA, passed away on April 8, 2025, surrounded by family. He was born on October 2, 1955 in Carlisle, PA. Steve was a 1973 graduate of Boiling Springs High School and earned a degree in civil engineering from Penn State University in 1977.

Steve is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Judy; his children, Steve Huntzinger, Jr. (wife Erikka) of Boston, MA, and Ann Pittman (husband Chris) of Fort Worth, TX; his beloved granddaughters, Hallie (8) and Savannah (6) Pittman; and his siblings Phil Huntzinger (wife Kathy), Mike Huntzinger (wife Saundra), and Chris Houser. He was preceded in death by his parents, Phil Huntzinger, Jr. and Freda Stringfellow Huntzinger.

Steve and Judy raised their family in Northern Virginia, where Steve worked as a civil engineer designing major roads and interstates in the DC area, until retiring in 2010. They settled in Mechanicsburg in 2016.

Steve had a passion for intricate woodworking, including creating bowls that showcased his skill and creativity. He was an avid reader, loved kayaking, acrylic painting, exploring on his motorcycle, and taking road trips across the United States. In 2024, he and Judy completed their goal of visiting all 50 states.

Nothing brought Steve more joy than spending time with his granddaughters. He especially loved teaching them - whether it was spelling, math, swimming, art, or his favorite pranks - and watching their faces light up as they learned something new.

Steve will be remembered for his vibrant social spirit, lifelong love of learning, gift of teaching others, and his deep devotion to his family.
