Sonia I. Rosario

Sonia I. Rosario, 65, of Carlisle, passed away on Sunday, September 13, 2015 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on May 21, 1950 in New York City, NY to Aleja Martinez Valle of New York, NY and was step-daughter to the late Mario Valle.
Sonia graduated from Benjamin Franklin High School and then furthered her education at Fordham University where she received her Bachelor's Degree in Education. She went on to receive her Masters in early childhood development at Adelphi University in New York City. Sonia, in 2002, was appointed to the Governor's Task Force for Early Childhood Education under Governor Thomas Ridge's administration. She was a teacher for 28 years in the Carlisle Area School District and was voted Teacher of the Year for the 2009-2010 school year. Sonia was a member of Carlisle CARES and attended St. Patrick Catholic Church.
Sonia is survived by her husband of 42 ½ years, Eliseo Rosario, Jr., MD of Carlisle; a son, Ian Rosario of Harrisburg; a brother, Alex Colon of Chicago; and a sister, Anna Colon of New York City. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and John Colon.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 19, 2015 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 85 Marsh Drive, Carlisle with Rev. Don H. Bender as Celebrant. There will be a visitation following the Mass at the church's activity center.
