Sidney "Pap" R. Deck

Sidney R. "Pap" Deck, 63, of Shippensburg, died Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at his residence.
He was born in May 21, 1951 in Chambersburg to the late Robert and Fannie E. Durff Deck.
Pap was a 1969 graduate of Shippensburg High School. He enlisted in the United States Marines after graduation. He was a proud veteran of the Vietnam War and received the Purple Heart for injuries sustained there. He worked for over 42 years at Century Link as a test board operator. Pap enjoyed hunting and fishing and going to their hunting camp, Camp Muck-A-Luck in Smokehole, WV. He was a member of the American Legion Post 223 of Shippensburg, the VFW Post 6319 of Greencastle and the Military Order of the Purple Heart. His grandsons, Hunter and Logan were his pride and joy and he loved to go hunting and fishing with them. He was especially proud that Logan achieved Eagle Scout.
He is survived by his wife, Monique S. Gadoury Deck of Shippensburg; a daughter, Lisa A. (and husband Bartley) Wilson of Shippensburg; two grandsons, Hunter E. and Logan M. Wilson of Shippensburg; two sisters, his twin sister, Linda (and husband Richard) Johnson of Gardners and Myrtle Kriner of Shippensburg; two brothers, George (and wife Janet) Deck of Shippensburg and Don (and wife Garda) Deck of New Mexico; a sister-in-law, Jacque Deck; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Deck.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 219 N. Hanover Street, Carlisle with Rev. Richard L. Reese officiating. There will be a visitation Saturday at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
