Sean Michael Carr

October 29, 1984 — June 29, 2023

Sean Michael Carr, 38, passed away on June 29, 2023, at his residence. He was born on October 29, 1984, to George W. and Marie A. (Albert) Carr. In addition to his parents, Sean is survived by his siblings: Joseph D. Carr, Heather M. (husband Chris) Steinour of Arizona, and Michelle Carr (husband Steve) Go of California; his nieces and nephew: Makenna Carr, Mikayla Go, and Soren Go. His paternal grandparents, George W. and Ann (Kazmiryk) Carr; maternal grandmother, Nona M. Phelabaum; and his maternal great grandparents, W. Carl and S. Jane (Wolf) Phelabaum preceded him in death. Sean leaves behind his loyal and lifesaving German Shepherd, Hannibal.

After attending Boiling Springs High School, Sean obtained his GED from Harrisburg Area Community College. He began his career in cyber security as a Computer Clerk for the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) in Mechanicsburg. With security training and technology certifications, he advanced to Information Technology Specialist. Representing DISA, he accepted an assignment to the Yokota Air Force Base, Fussa, Tokyo, Japan. Sean’s dream as a young boy was to work for the National Security Agency and he achieved that goal as a Global Network Exploitation Vulnerability Analyst.

Preferring individual sports, Sean enjoyed skiing in Vermont, scuba diving and the thrill of a sky dive in Hawaii. He also enjoyed travel to Canada, Mexico, and Brazil, but he considered time spent in Japan his favorite. Preparing and sampling diverse cuisines were lifelong interests, influenced by his travels and paternal grandmother’s culinary skills.

Sean left us too soon and was laid to rest in the Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens with a private gathering of his immediate family including Hannibal.
