Scott Eric Fisher, 48, died peacefully on Saturday, September 16, 2023. He is remembered as a son and a brother, a father and a husband, and very possibly the wittiest person you knew.
Born 1975 in Carlisle, PA, Scott attended Crestview and Hamilton Elementary Schools and Wilson Middle School. His athletic endeavors propelled him through Carlisle High School and Lockhaven University, where he played football, made many friends, and completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications. After graduating, Scott joined the Army to pursue his interest in graphic design, eventually landing in Wiesbaden, Germany. While there, he struggled with and overcame alcoholism. He returned to the States with a newfound sense of self-awareness and drive to become a husband and a father.
Shortly after his return to Carlisle in 2000, Scott reconnected with Liz (Clever) Fisher, a fellow CHS student. The couple moved to Baltimore where he attended the University of Baltimore and earned a Master of Arts degree in Publication Design. They married in 2003, and he was overjoyed at the births of their sons, Isaac (2004) and Oliver (2007). Scott was a stay-at-home-father for their early years, routinely changing diapers, building forts, and finishing Lego set after Lego set. As they grew, he coached baseball and wrestling teams, joined parent groups, and instilled in them a love that words cannot express. Alongside his children, Scott raised several dogs; he was rarely seen without Mugsy and Daisy, Milli, or Sunny and Shady. In his later years, he took an interest in the visual arts and produced a collection of absurdist and surrealist paintings and sculptures.
If you knew Scott, we’d like to invite you to laugh at your memories of his (sometimes!) clever jokes and funny bits and to know that he is at peace after a long struggle to make sense of the world around him.
Scott is survived by his mother, Pamela, his sister, Stephanie, his sons, Isaac and Oliver, and Liz. He was preceded in death by his father, Stephen G. Fisher and his twin brother, Sean E. Fisher. Scott had committed to being an organ donor and was a participant in research studies at Boston University related to his affliction with what was likely chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE). In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in his honor to the Concussion Legacy Foundation (concussionfoundation.org), the Boston University CTE Research Program (www.bu.edu/cte/financial-support), or your favorite local animal rescue.
