Scott D. "Smitty" Smith, age 58, of Carlisle, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 1, 2017.
He was born December 23, 1958 in Mechanicsburg to Shirley E. (Bishop) Smith and the late Norman A. Smith, Jr.
Smitty was a forklift driver for Allen Distribution and was a paper carrier for the Patriot News. He was very involved with Toys for Tots and loved playing Santa Claus for the kids. He enjoyed NASCAR, and missed watching Dale Earnhardt, Sr. race, Eagles football, watching Duck Dynasty, camping and had a love for cars. Scott believed in doing all he could for others and donated his organs to "Gift of Life". Most of all, though, he had a great love for his only granddaughter, Abigail.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by: his wife, Amy (Felker) Smith; sons, Michael (and wife Pam) Cope, Noah, Evan and Jayden Felker; daughters, Tina and Kelly Smith; brothers, Jeff (and wife Joyce) Smith, Mike (and wife Nansi) Smith; sisters, Cheryl Killinger and Vic Starner; granddaughter, Abigail Cope; doggy-daughter, Ella May; mother in law, Yvonne Lynn Whitzel, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his father and grandparents, Scott was preceded in death by: brothers-in-law, Clair Starner and Mike Killinger; and an uncle, Terry Bishop.
Memorial services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, March 6, 2017 at Hoffman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2020 W. Trindle Road, Carlisle, PA with Rev. Abigail Leese officiating. Interment will be held privately and at the convenience of the family. There will be a visitation at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. until the time of the services.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, Capital Region Division, 1019 Mumma Road, Wormleysburg, PA 17043.
