Sandra K. "Sandy" Thomas

Sandra K. “Sandy” Thomas, age 73, of Carlisle died on Saturday, May 29, 2021 at her residence with her loving family at her side. She was born in Pittsburgh, PA on November 6, 1947 to the late Walter L. and Mary Kathleen Noel Durst.
You may remember Sandy as the former Director of Nursing at the Green Ridge Village, Newville, and the Cumberland County Nursing Home in Carlisle. She was a graduate of Point Park College School of Nursing in Pittsburgh. She also received her certificate as a Certified Nursing Administrator. Sandy was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Carlisle. She enjoyed reading, bird watching and going out to eat at different restaurants. She was very supportive of her grandchildren’s endeavors.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, William D. “Bill” Thomas, Carlisle, two daughters; Carrie L. Mayernick (husband John), Carlisle, Lauren N. Goodyear (husband David), Bradenton, Florida, her two sons, Ryan D. Thomas (wife Lily), Orlando, Florida Andrew E. Thomas, Carlisle, her two sisters, Karen Kiely (husband Edward), Pittsburgh, Deborah Mimnall (husband Donald), Lancaster, and two brothers, Walter Durst (wife Joyce), Lancaster, John Sellers (wife Helen), El Cerrito, California, and her five grandchildren, Michael, Jack, Alexandra, Evan and MacKenzie. She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Elizabeth Durst.
Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, June 17, 2021 at 11:00 AM in St. Patrick Catholic Church, 85 Marsh Dr. Carlisle with Father Donald H. Bender as Celebrant. Interment will be held at the St. Patrick Cemetery, Carlisle. There will be a visitation at the church on Thursday June 17, 2021 from 10:00 AM until the time of Mass.
Memorial contributions may be made in Sandra’s name to Sadler Health Center, 100 N. Hanover St., Carlisle PA 17013.
