Samuel D. Ross Jr.

Samuel D. Ross Jr. of Carlisle passed away on November 23, 2018.
He was born on April 13, 1933 in Abington, PA to the late Samuel D. Ross Sr. and Edith (Lindborg) Ross. His older brother Richard Donald Ross is deceased.
Sam is a graduate of Abington High School and of Susquehanna University where he majored in biology. He was the husband of Dorothy (Apgar) Ross and the father of three sons, David Allan Ross (deceased), Randall Lee Ross and Donald James Ross (deceased).
Sam was the retired President and CEO of Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield, was the chairman of the boards of Trustees of Susquehanna University and the United Way of the Capitol Region. Also, he served on the boards of the Pennsylvania Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, the Greater Harrisburg Foundation, the Harrisburg YMCA, and the PA State Chamber of Business and Industry. Sam was a member of the Pennsylvania Society and the Union League.
Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Hoffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 2020 West Trindle Road Carlisle, PA 17013.
