Sadie Cantone Pounder, passed on Saturday, October 25, 2014 at her residence.
She was born on April 19, 1946 in Harrisburg to the late Louis B. Cantone and Ann D'Oro Cantone.
She graduated from John Harris High School in Harrisburg, PA; Gettysburg College (BA); George Mason University (MA); and, the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg (MDiv). She also earned a Licensed Professional Counselor and was ordained a Lutheran pastor in the ELCA in 2009. Her careers included a mother, mental health counselor at Adams County Prison, Associate Pastor at Trinity Lutheran in Lancaster, and chaplain at SCI Camp Hill, men's prison. Her passions were love and service to God, her family and those in the Criminal Justice System, especially those in prison.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 45 years, Michael Anderson Pounder and their four sons and spouses whom she adored: Michael and wife, Tracy of VA; David and wife, Anne of MD; Tom of VA and Joe of DC. She is also survived by ten loving grandchildren, Madelynn, Katie and Sarah, daughters of Mike and Tracy; Evan, Matt and Zoe, children of David and Anne; and Reiley, Grace, Ella and Addison, daughters of Tom and Anne. She is also survived by her sister, Lois of Harrisburg, PA; and brothers, Nicholas of Harrisburg and Tom of Conn. and their families and five cousins. She felt blessed by many friendships and by those who crossed paths with her life.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 1, 2014 in the Chapel at the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg, 61 Seminary Ridge, Gettysburg, PA 17325 with Pastor Lisa Leber officiating. A private burial will be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery at a later date. A viewing will be private and at the convenience of the family.
