Ruth J. Stambaugh

Ruth J. (Crull) Stambaugh, 94, of Newville, PA, passed away on Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at UPMC Pinnacle Carlisle, Carlisle, PA with her loving family by her side. She was born March 2, 1924 to the late Oscar E. and Verna L. (Laughery) Crull. She was the widow of Robert B. Stambaugh, Sr. who passed in 2014.
Ruth was a life long member of the Mount Rock United Methodist Church, and a Cub Scout, Girl Scout, and 4H Leader. She was also a past member of the ladies auxiliary and Penn Township Volunteer Fire Co. No. 50. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and gardening and was a fabulous cook and baker. Her famous lemon sponge pies and black walnut cakes were her specialties. Above all, she enjoyed spending time with her family.
She is survived by her son, Alan and wife LuAnn; daughters, Bonnie Snyder and husband Ray, Cheryl Ficalora, and Kimberly Sanderson and husband Kevin; daughter-in-law, Beth Stambaugh; son-in-law, Randy Rakers; brother, Jack Crull; sister, Erma Finkenbinder; nine grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; ten step-great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Betty Lou Rakers; son, Robert Stambaugh, Jr.; son-in-law, Nils Ficalora; grandson, Randy Lee Rakers; four brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services will be held Monday, August 13, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Hoffman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2020 W. Trindle Road, Carlisle, PA 17013 with Pastor Linda Maifair officiating. There will be a viewing Sunday evening, August 12 at the funeral home from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. and Monday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services. Interment will follow the services in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Ruth’s name may be made to her church, Mount Rock United Methodist Church, 598 Mount Rock Road, Newville, PA 17241.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation for the love, care and support shown to Ruth over the past three years by the Green Ridge Village Carriage Court staff and the staff at UPMC Pinnacle Carlisle ICU Unit.
