Ruth Eppley

Ruth K. Eppley, 95, of Carlisle, died Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at Claremont Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Carlisle.
Born March 27, 1916 in Harrisburg, she was a daughter of the late Elmer F. and Louise A. Rice Kester and the widow of Creedin Eugene Eppley.
She was a 1934 graduate of Boiling Springs High School, Dickinson College and Carlisle Commercial College. Ruth was employed by the Department of Revenue, Harrisburg prior to her marriage. Ruth retired from AAA as a travel agent after seventeen years. She was a member of the Daughters of American Revolution and a member of First Presbyterian Church, Carlisle where she serviced on the board of trustees. Ruth enjoyed traveling with her niece, gardening, bowling and bridge.
Surviving are one brother-in-law, James R. Compton; four nieces, Susan Stecher of Harrisburg, Janet Ivey (and husband, Tom) of Wausau, WI, Doris Compton of Carlisle and Emily Compton of Carlisle; one nephew, James Compton (and wife, Marcia) of Boiling Springs; four great-nieces; one great-nephew; six great-great-nieces and one great-great-nephew. She was preceded in death by her sister, Marjorie Compton.
Memorial services will be announced at a later date.
Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 219 North Hanover Street, Carlisle is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
