Ruth E. Shenk, 88, of Carlisle, died Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at Chapel Pointe at Carlisle.
Born July 18, 1924 in Carlisle, she was the daughter of the late W. Bryan and Edna Elizabeth Weigle Warner and the widow of Dale W. Shenk.
Ruth loved her family and enjoyed being a homemaker and mother. She was a member of First Church of the Brethren, Carlisle, where she was part of the Women's Fellowship. She was a member of AARP and NARFE. Ruth enjoyed gardening and canning and liked to travel, especially on bus trips.
Surviving are three daughters, Pauline L. Stump (and husband, Elmer) of Boiling Springs, Phyllis E. Growden (and husband, Gregory) of Carlisle, and Pamela J. Williams (and husband, Thomas) of Boiling Springs; ten grandchildren; one step-grandchild; fourteen great-grandchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Robert Warner.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m., Monday, July 8, 2013, at First Church of the Brethren, 1340 Forge Road, Carlisle with Rev. Jim Abe and Rev. Marla Abe co-officiating. Burial will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle. A viewing will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the services on Monday at the church.
