Ruth Amparo Schmidt

Ruth Amparo Schmidt, 73, of Deland, FL passed away at her daughter’s home in Alexandria, VA on Friday, November 11, 2022.

Born November 20, 1948, in Colombia, South America, she was a daughter of the late Ruben and Rosa (Munoz) Martinez.

Mrs. Schmidt was retired from Ross Distribution, Carlisle.

In addition to spending time with her family, Mrs. Schmidt enjoyed home Bible study, flowers, plants, and gardening. Ruth loved to travel; she visited Jordan, Italy, Costa Rica, Malta, Canada, Sicily, and the Vatican. Her most recent trip was to Colombia to visit her uncle, Alfonso Munoz.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers: Hugo, Guillermo, and Carlos Martinez.

Surviving is her loving husband of 51 years, Keith Schmidt; two daughters: Audrey (husband Matthew) Daly of Mechanicsburg and Diana Schmidt of Alexandria, VA; two brothers: Conrado and Ruben Martinez; five sisters: Dolly Santiago, Marysol Martinez, Flor Martinez, Trina Stonebraker, and Ruby Diaz; and a granddaughter: Angelica Daly. Mrs. Schmidt was loved very much and will be missed by her family and those who knew her.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, November 18, 2022, at the Hoffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 2020 West Trindle Road Carlisle, PA 17013. Burial will follow at Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens. A viewing will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
