Russell E. Ditmer, age 81, of Carlisle, died Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at Cumberland Crossings.
He was born in Rose Garden, PA on April 3, 1933 to the late Charles E. and M. Catherine (Wennell) Ditmer, Sr.
Russell was a retired farmer and had worked at the Hempt Brothers Horse Farm for many years. He was a member of First Church of the Brethren, Carlisle and he enjoyed spending time with his loving family.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Pearl A. (Neidigh) Ditmer of Carlisle; one son, Jeffery E. Ditmer and his companion Steven of Carlisle; two brothers, Charles E. Ditmer, Jr. of Lititz and David Ditmer of Mechanicsburg; two sisters, Jean Turner of OK and Barbara Carbaugh of Shippensburg; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, January 16, 2015 at his church, 1340 Forge Road, Carlisle, PA 17013. There will be a viewing on Thursday, January 15, 2015 at the church from 6:00-8:00 pm and Friday from 12:00 pm until the time of the service at the church. Officiating will be Pastors Jim & Marla Abe. Interment will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to First Church of the Brethren, 1340 Forge Road, Carlisle, PA 17013.
