Ruby Jean Garland

Ruby Jean Garland, 64, of Carlisle, passed away on Wednesday, April 26, 2023, at UMPC Hanover.

She was born April 29, 1958, in Baltimore, MD to the late Ralph and Darline (Walker) Garland.

Ruby was a very positive, outgoing woman who had the ability to make anyone laugh. She enjoyed shopping, going to yard sales, working puzzles, cooking, baking, and spending time with her family and friends. Ruby liked taking trips and making new friends. She was almost always barefooted. Ruby loved animals of all types and she probably would have owned a farm if she ever had the chance.

She is survived by her loving son, Michael Lee Garland (girlfriend Christina Wilson) of Carlisle; three siblings, Ruth Wentz of Hanover, Bobby (wife Dory) Garland of Perry County, and Rita Garland of Shippensburg; two granddaughters, Olivia Neidigh and Shenelle Price; and her stepfather, Levi Mountz of Carlisle. In addition to her parents, Ruby was preceded in death by two brothers, Ralph Garland and Lonnie Garland Sr.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 5, 2023, at the Hoffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 2020 West Trindle Road Carlisle, PA 17013. Burial will follow in the Opossum Hill Union Church Cemetery. A viewing will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
