Rose E. Murray

Rose E. Murray, 65, of Carlisle, passed away on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at the Claremont Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Carlisle.
She was born in Carlisle, May 4, 1952, a daughter of the late Elmer II and Josephine Stripling Hodge.
Rose was a graduate of Carlisle High School. She worked at GS Electric for 16 years and employment skills center for 4 years and was a health educator for Aids Community Alliance. She was a member of the West Street AME Zion Church, Carlisle.
Rose is survived by two sons, Patrick (wife Stephanie) Hodge of Baltimore, MD and David Johnson of Harrisburg; seven grandchildren, Porsha, LeaNisha, Brittney, Brianna, Nathan, Avin and Madison; one great-grandson Weston; two brothers, Elmer (wife Jackie) Hodge III of Atlanta, GA and Melvin (wife Janie) Hodge of Carlisle; two sisters, Lena Graham and Betty Diggs both of Carlisle; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Rose was preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy Hodge.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 pm on Friday, December 8, 2017 at Hoffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 2020 West Trindle Road Carlisle, PA 17013 with Rev. Vearnol P. Hazel, Jr. officiating. Burial will be private and held at the convenience of the family. A visitation will be held from 2:00 pm until the time of the service on Friday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Rose’s name to the West Street AME Zion Church, 132 South West Street Carlisle, PA 17013.
