Ronold Orson Witmer

Ronold Orson Witmer, 78, of Duncannon, passed away on Sunday evening, March 3, 2019 at his residence.

He was born December 30, 1940 in Churchtown, PA to the late Creedon and Mildred (Starry) Witmer.

Ronold was a U.S. Army veteran and self-employed electrician. He was a member of the Dellville United Methodist Church, Duncannon VFW, Perry County Old Iron, a former President of the Perry County Recreation Association (PCRA) and former member of the Rotary Club.

Ronold was a model train enthusiast with dedicated rooms in his house displaying 18 functional trains. He enjoyed sharing his love for trains by opening his home to the community for a Christmas train show display each year. He was a competitive dance roller skating champion traveling to competitions along with his entire family. He enjoyed skating to live organ music anywhere it was available and was a floor guard at the Olympic Roller Skating Rink in Enola. He spent hours working on and riding his John Deere tractor. In his younger days, he enjoyed camping trips with his family.

Ronold is survived by his loving wife, Shirley (Berger) Witmer. They would have celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary in August. He is also survived by a daughter, Roxanne Crawford and husband Vance of Mechanicsburg; son, Rodney Witmer of Mechanicsburg; sister, Bonnie Jo Hull and husband Cloyd of Marysville; aunt, Ruth Markle; uncle, Robert Starry, both of Carlisle and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Amanda Leonard and nephew, Randall Hull.

A memorial service will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at the Dellville United Methodist Church, 806 Dellville Road, Duncannon, PA 17020 with Pastor David Keyworth officiating. A visitation will be held at the church on Friday, March 15, 2019 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm and on Saturday, March 16, 2019 from 11:00 am until the time of the service. Burial will be held at a later date.
