Ronald L. “Bud” Ludwig, age 80, of Carlisle, passed away Friday, July 21, 2017 at Carlisle Regional Medical Center.
He was born April 23, 1937 in Carlisle to the late Mabel Ludwig, and was married to his wife Joan E. Ludwig, with whom he would have celebrated 60 years of marriage in November.
Bud was a long-time truck driver, hauling for Maslands, Keens, and Cressler. He closed his working life as a security guard for Carlisle Events. On his many journeys on the highway, he would get carousels to add to his wife’s collection. Outside of work, he would travel with his wife on cruise ships. Even to the Panama Canal. He and Joan would often go to see the Blue Ridge Quartet. When he wasn’t fishing on his boat, he especially enjoyed staying at the house they built in Delaware.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by: his son Vaughn Ludwig; his daughters, Gail Fahnestock, Candy Amspacher, and Britany Smith; grandsons Shawn, Kris, Emanual, and Brett; and great-grandchildren Jazmin, Talon, Jocelyn, Macen, Madalynn, MaKenna, Nevaeh, and Bryceon. In addition to his mother, he is preceded in death by his brothers Paul Bitner, and Robert Ludwig.
Hoffman Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Interment will be private and at the discretion of the family.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Bud’s honor may be made to the American Lung Association - 3001 Old Gettysburg Rd. Camp Hill, Pa 17011.
