Ronald E. Shatto

Ronald E. “Ron” Shatto, 73, of ShermansDale, passed away on Saturday, January 7, 2023, at his home.

He was born January 9, 1949, in Newport to the late Donald S. and Betty J. (Fortney) Shatto. Ron was the widower of Patricia A. (Paulus) Shatto who passed on January 4, 2020.

Ronald was a 1969 graduate of Newport High School. He honorably served his country in the US Marine Corps during the Vietnam Era. Ron was employed by PPG Industries from 1972 until his retirement in 2009. He loved the outdoors and was happiest when he was hunting, fishing, or sitting on the beach. Ron was a passionate NASCAR fan who rarely missed watching a race.

He is survived by his loving daughter, Sherry L. (husband Randy) Hoffman of Dauphin; seven grandchildren, Derek (wife Tymber) Pomeroy of Mechanicsburg, River Goshorn (partner James Ross-Mortensen) of Elizabethville, Tabitha Hoffman of Dauphin, Jon Hoffman of Elizabethtown, Brooke Mitchell of Dauphin, Ian Mitchell of Dauphin, and Faith Hoffman of Elizabethtown; one great-grandson, Andrew; one great-granddaughter, Juniper; and one brother, Donald (wife Donna) Shatto of Huntsdale. In addition to his parents and his wife, Ron was preceded in death by one son, Daryl Shatto and one grandson, Victor Shatto.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in Youngs United Methodist Church Cemetery.
