Roland R. Couch, age 61, of Mt. Holly Springs, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, December 26, 2017 at his residence.
He was born November 22, 1956 in Uniontown to the late Emmett and Joann (Loukota) Couch.
Roland was a history buff and was especially interested in World War II. He was an owner/operator over-the-road trucker and was a Jack-of-All-Trades: mechanic; engineer; electrician; fabricator; trucker; biker; machine operator. Roland had a strong work ethic but loved to play hard too, including driving fast and drag racing. He enjoyed classic country music and trucking songs, especially “Roll On”” by Alabama. He loved his German Shepherd, “Shelby”, named after his favorite car, the Ford Shelby GT 500. Roland was a member of Cumberland Star Lodge #197 F&AM and the Mt. Holly Springs American Legion Post 674. Roland was a mentor and friend to many and will be sadly missed.
He is survived by: his wife Charlotte (Palko) Couch; two daughters, Stephanie Lynn (and significant other Nino Vella) Couch and Theresa Marie (husband Justin) Sheriff; a son, Nicholas James (wife Kelly) Couch; a sister, Paula J. Works; a brother, Emmett E. Couch II; nine grandchildren, Dalton J. Turner, Kaylie M. Clark, Brody L. Sheriff, Easton B. Sheriff, Hayden N. Couch, Travis B. Couch, Austin J. Couch, Santo Vella and Gianni Vella; a nephew, Stephen M. Works; two nieces, Allison L. Works-Honsaker and Shauna L. Couch and her son, Jaxson; and numerous other loving nieces and nephews.. In addition to his parents, Roland was preceded by a son, Roland R. Couch, Jr. and brother-in-law, Bernard Ray Works.
Memorial services will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at Hoffman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2020 W. Trindle Road, Carlisle, PA with Fr. Michael Popson officiating. Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family. There will be a visitation at the funeral home from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the services.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
