Roger L. Danzeisen, loving husband, father, grandfather, brother-in-law and uncle, currently of Carlisle, PA passed away Monday, 28 October, 2019 at the Thornwald Home with his wife Marianne at his side.

Roger grew up in Jamesburg, NJ through 8th grade. After the family moved to Milltown, NJ he attended New Brunswick High School and upon graduation enlisted in the US Army in 1960.
Roger was the son of the late Charles F. and Alberta (nee Emens) Danzeisen, and brother of the late Jeffery Danzeisen.

Growing up as a teenager in Milltown, New Jersey Roger belonged to the Milltown Rescue Squad. He ran High School Cross Country.

Roger was a Vietnam War era veteran and enlisted in the U.S. Army following graduating from New Brunswick High School, N.J. in 1960. His first assignment was with Nike-Hercules Missiles in Kitzingen, Germany. He then joined the Signal Corps in a Dial Central Office Repair position and was stationed at Ft. Huachuca, Arizona, Paris, France and Mons, Belgium. Following his training in Electronic Accounting Machine Repair he was assigned to Ft Riley, Kansas and Korea. After completion of training as a Computer Systems Operator and a Computer Programmer he was stationed with the Military Personnel Center in Alexandria, Virginia and then an assignment in Heidelberg, Germany, until his retirement in 1981 as a Sergeant First Class (SFC).

Roger had gained his private pilot’s license and owned his own plane for a while. In 1977 he completed his Bachelor of Science Business degree from the University of Maryland. He enjoyed skiing the mountains throughout Europe as a member of the Heidelberg International Ski Club. He was an avid Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier owner of 8 dogs of this breed and showing some of them in Europe. He was an active volunteer in the communities that he lived in, such as helping with Homecoming Parades, or helping Girl Scouts selling Florida oranges and grapefruits in Germany. Roger learned his carpenter skills from his grandfather, and he remodeled his home and built other structures for it. After his marriage to his wife Marianne in 1976 he designed and built their furniture.

Roger is survived by his wife Marianne (Rebholz) and his three loving children and their families; daughters Beth (Thomas) of New Jersey, Tamara (Glen), son Kittrick; daughter-in-law Jennifer of Pennsylvania; 6 grandchildren – Thomas, and Olivia of New Jersey; Nicholas, Michael, Julia and Kittrick of Pennsylvania; his sister-in-law Denise of New Jersey; in addition to his brother-in-law’s Terry (Jean), Ken, Richard and Scott (Janet);
11 nieces and nephews Alan (Megan), Amanda, Andrea, Angela, Eric, Maria, Melissa (Glen), Michael, Michelle (Matt), Robert (Nicole), Sean (Ashley); his loving Aunts Verna (Fred) Clohecy, Lulla Emens, and Kathryn Dickey. 22 grand nieces and nephews: Addison, Alexander, Austin, Avery, Brenin, Brett, Brooke, Carissa, Christopher, Everette, Grace-Ann, Henry, Isabella, Jacob, Jaedyn-Isaish, Kaydin, Lily, Masen; Myles-Xavier, Olivia, Samantha, Sophia.

Roger’s family wishes to extend a special thank you to those around him that have been so helpful and wonderful to him and the family; especially Jeff, Steffanie and Dennis, Eric, Phyliss and Bob, Judy and the Thornwald Home.

Roger made the world a great place to live. He was dearly loved and will be missed by his family, friends and by the many others whose lives he touched. We will all miss your love, hugs and humor!

A celebration of Roger’s life will be held Tuesday, 5 November at 1:00 P.M. at Hoffman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2020 W. Trindle Rd., Carlisle PA with Chaplain Mark Ruzicka officiating. There will be a visitation at the funeral home from 1:00 – 2:00 PM. Future interment will be held at the convenience of the family at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
