Robert V. "Bob" Geist

Robert V. "Bob" Geist, 91, of Carlisle, passed away early Saturday morning March 19, 2016 at Manor Care of Carlisle.
He was born in Juniata-Altoona, PA on April 15, 1924 to the late Theodore W. and Ruth R. Mentzer Geist and was the widower of Betty Ford Geist, who died March 28, 2009 after 60 years of marriage.
Bob retired as an engineer from United Telephone Company of Ohio. He was a co-pilot with the US Army Air Corp serving during WWII with the 408th Bomb Squadron and the 22nd Bombing Group of the 5th Airforce. Bob was a faithful member and usher with the Second Presbyterian Church, Carlisle. He volunteered with Meal on Wheels, Carlisle and at Manor Care where he was known as "Bingo Bob" and also volunteered at the Probate Court of Cumberland County. Bob was an avid bowler and enjoyed shooting pool at the Carlisle American Legion.
He is survived by his son, Robert S. Geist and wife Connie of Horsham, PA; a daughter, Diane E. Geist of Carlisle; a sister, Donna Williams of Altoona; two grandchildren, Heather Micheals and Steven Geist; and a great-granddaughter, Emerson Micheals. He was preceded in death by seven sisters and two brothers.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 26, 2016 at Second Presbyterian Church, 528 Garland Drive, Carlisle, with Rev. Dr. Jeffrey L. Gibelius and Rev. Jennifer J. McKenna officiating. Interment will be in the Grand View Memorial Park, Annville PA. There will be a visitation at the Church Chapel at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday until time of services. Following services at the church, military honors will be provided by the Cumberland County Honor Guard.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Second Presbyterian Church, 528 Garland Drive, Carlisle, PA 17013.
