Robert Lee "Bob" Hays

Robert Lee "Bob" Hays, age 68, of Carlisle, passed away Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at the Carlisle Regional Medical Center.
He was born June 19, 1948 in Carlisle to the late Edward Alexander and Esther (Wickard) Hays.
Bob proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corp Reserves and served the citizens of Carlisle as a Borough Police Officer for 28 years before retiring in 1998. He instructed DARE in local schools and helped to develop the Neighborhood Watch program. Bob was a member of the FOP #76, the Cumberland Star Lodge #197 F&AM, the Harrisburg Consistory Scottish Rite, the Cumberland Fire Co., the N. Middleton Fire Co., where he was a former Township Chief, the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 1299, the White Circle Club and the Moose Lodge #761. He was also a member of the Chapter VII Gospel Quartet and Waggoners United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Mary Ann (Weigle) Hays of Carlisle; a son, Justin L. (and wife Korin) Hays of Mt. Holly Springs; brother, Randy A. Hays of Mt. Holly Springs; and three grandchildren, Brodie, Reese and Mason Hays. In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by three sisters, Marguerite Righter, Marlene Kruger and Marion Cone and a brother, Ralph E. Hays.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at Hoffman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2020 W. Trindle Road, Carlisle, PA with Rev. William E. Pipp officiating. Burial will follow at Westminster Memorial Gardens. There will be a viewing from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 and on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the services at the funeral home.
